Engineering Students Society Memorial Award

Engineering Students Society Memorial Award is a financial aid provided by the University of Calgary to its current undergraduate students enrolled in the Schulich School of Engineering. The award is only available to the students of the Calgary Engineering field/subject. Applicants must be entering the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of their program.

  • Engineering Students Society Memorial Award offers an amount of 1800 CAD.
  • Award is sponsored by the University of Calgary Engineering Students' Society.
  • Open for students of all nationalities, whether domestic or those on a Canadian Student visa.
  • Eligible students must have secured above 3.20 GPA in their previous years of study.
  • Completion of University of Calgary Award application is mandatory to be considered.
  • Selections are based on academic merit and extracurricular achievements in the engineering field.

Aim of the award is to provide financial help to the academically meritorious students who showcase a varied range of skill sets and possess leadership qualities, striving to become well-rounded engineers.

Eligibility Criteria

Students must fulfill the requirements listed below to be eligible for Engineering Students Society Memorial Award :

  • Pursuing any engineering program at undergraduate level at University of Calgary.
  • Currently enrolled in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of study
  • Secured a minimum GPA of 3.50 in previous year(s) of enrolled program
    • Must have completed a minimum of 24 units of academic course work
  • Active participation in extracurricular activities related to engineering.

Engineering Students Society Memorial Award does not have any restrictions on applicant’s nationality or academic background.


Application Process

UG engineering students who fulfill the Engineering Students Society Memorial Award eligibility, can move ahead and complete an online application to apply for the award. Before applying, it is significant for the students to ensure that they maintain a full-time student status as stated at the time of admission at University of Calgary

How to Apply for the Award?

Step I: Access Student Centre in myUofC portal available at the University of Calgary Official website.
Step II: In the Student Centre section, click on the "My Financials" page.
Step III: Click on the Awards & Scholarships section, and click on "Apply for Undergraduate Awards”.
Step IV: A pop-up window will open on the screen with a number of applications for the different scholarships. Choose Engineering Students Society Memorial Award application.
Step V: Complete all the details of the online scholarship application and submit the same.


Selection Process

Recipient selection for the award will be based on the following factors :

  • Academic merit, portrayed in previous years of study
  • Achievements in extracurricular activities, related to engineering
  • Leadership qualities and career goals

Once the selection committee has made a decision, the name of the recipient is announced at the time of commencement of new academic year and the recipient is awarded CAD 1800.


Grant Details

Unversity of Calgary UG program students enrolled in Engineering subjects are eligible for the Engineering Students Society Memorial Award.

International students who wish to pursue higher education in Canada at the University of Calgary with some financial aid can look for other scholarships.
