UQ Economics India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam Scholarship

UQ Economics India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam Scholarship is awarded to students commencing coursework degree programs at the University of Queensland’s Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law. Scholarship recipients, selected on the basis of academic merit, are rewarded with 50% tuition fee waiver.

Eligible students must be commencing studies the university for the first time and should not be a recipient of another UQ scholarship.
Separate scholarship applications must be submitted along with supporting documents before April 30, 2023.
Applications are open from January 1,2023
The scholarship program does NOT cover expenses of travel and accommodation in Australia.
Number of the scholarships varies every year and are decided by the Head of School of Economics.

Eligibility Criteria

You're eligible if you:

are a citizen of India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka or Vietnam and normally live there
have received a letter of offer for any of UQ's Economics coursework programs (dual programs with economics are eligible, however the scholarship will only apply to the economics part of the dual program). Please note that the following programs are excluded:
- Bachelor of Advanced Finance and Economics (Honours)
- Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics (Honours)

You're not eligible if you:

are already enrolled at UQ or studying at UQ on study abroad or exchange
are already studying in Australia, other than an English language course. If you are learning English in Australia to prepare for study or to sit an English language test, you are eligible to apply.
are studying a diploma, certificate, foundation studies or degree program in Australia
already hold another scholarship for tuition fees.

Application Process

Before apply for the scholarship program, students must apply and receive confirmation of admission from the university. Once they have obtained a conditional/unconditional letter of admission to UQ, they can proceed to apply for UQ Economics India Scholarship.

Scholarship Deadline

The scholarship deadline remains the same every:

Semester I: November 30
Semester II: April 30

Supporting Documents

UQ Economics India,Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam Scholarship application requires candidate to submit the following documents:

Resume/CV
Motivation Statement/SOP (1000 words)
- The reason for pursuing the chosen degree program from UQ.
- Career ambitions and evidence of previous achievements.
One reference letter (in English) from a teacher or employer.

Selection Process

UQ Economics India,Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam Scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic excellence. While other factors such as recommendation and SOP might be considered, the final selections are solely based on academic merit and achievements of the students.

Scholarship Renewability

The scholarship is renewable for the duration of recipient’s chosen degree program. However, extension decision is at the sole discretion of the Executive Dean, Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law.
