UCD Global Excellence Graduate Scholarships

UCD Global Excellence Graduate Scholarships are offered to academically exceptional students commencing their master’s studies. The scholarships aim at attracting brilliant students from foreign countries and encouraging them to submit an early application.

  • UCD Global Excellence Graduate Scholarship will cover 50% - 100% of the student’s tuition fees only.
  • University College Dublin awards the scholarships based on merit and the student’s scholarship application.
  • The scholarship program is applicable to majority masters-level programs at all UCD colleges:
    • College of Arts and Humanities
    • College of Business
    • College of Engineering and Architecture
    • College of Health and Agricultural Sciences
    • College of Science
    • College of Social Sciences and Law
  • Students who are pursuing a 2-year master’s program are required to maintain a GPA above 3.08/4.2 in order to have the scholarship renewed.
  • In order to be eligible, the applicant should be a citizen or a permanent resident of a non EU country.

Besides the global excellence scholarships for graduate students, University College Dublin also offers a number of scholarships for undergraduate level students and a scholarship specifically for Indian students.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants are required to fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility criteria in order to be considered for the UCD Global Excellence Graduate Scholarships

  • have an ‘Offer’, ‘Conditional Offer, ‘Accept’ or ‘Conditional Accept’ status on their application.
  • be self-funding and classified as Non-EU for tuition fee purposes.
  • applying for a full-time Master’s program apart from the Smurfit Business School, clinical programs, online programs or joint programs.
  • A permanent resident or a citizen of one of the eligible countries.

Besides the eligibility criteria mentioned above, students who apply for and/ or receive the Global Excellence Scholarship are required to adhere to certain terms and conditions mentioned below

  • Only students who apply before the established deadline (March 31) will be considered for the award.
  • Be enrolled in a full-time master’s program apart from clinical programs, joint master’s programs, online programs or programs offered by the Smurfit Business School
  • Recipients are required to maintain full-time enrollment status in order to have their scholarship renewed.
  • Students who accept the scholarship will be expected to appear for UCD open Events, be a part of the Student Ambassador Panel, appear for podcasts and provide testimonials of their experience at the institute as and when required.

Application Process

Eligible applicants are required to submit a separate application for UCD Global Excellence Graduate Scholarship. Interested students should follow the steps mentioned below after completing the steps to apply for admission to the University College Dublin

  1. Log into UCD’s online application portal using your application and password.
  2. Under “My Application”- Click “Scholarship Applications”
  3. Select the scholarship you want to apply for.
  4. Answer all the questions based on the following criteria:
    • Why have you chosen to study at UCD? (100 words)
    • Why have you chosen to study this academic program? (100 words)
    • Tell us about your future goals and ambitions (100 words)
    • Will you be able to play the role of campus ambassador? (100 words)
    • How do you plan to fund your remaining expenses?
  5. Submit the application form.

Applicants should remember to submit their scholarship application before the deadline.


Selection Process

University College Dublin aims at awarding exceptionally brilliant master’s applicants with this prestigious scholarship. Applicants are, therefore, judged based on

  • Strength of the UCD Global Excellence Graduate scholarship application.
  • Academic Achievements (GPA, standardized test scores etc)
  • Fulfillment of eligibility criteria

The final decisions are made by the selection committee at the University College Dublin and cannot be contested. Students who receive the scholarship will be notified within 2 weeks. They should formally accept the scholarship offer failing which the offer may be revoked.
