To strengthen the international presence in USA universities, 50% tuition fees waivers are offered to students commencing undergraduate studies. For the session 2021, approximately 60 universities and colleges are participating in the YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarships.

The list of participating USA colleges and universities changes every year.
The scholarships are given for one year at a time and can be renewed for another year.
The major objectives of the YouAreWelcomeHere scholarships are:
- To Strengthen the core message
- To provide the international students an education of world class in the U.S
- To enhance the access of U.S education to the students outside the U.S and
- To build a chain of future leaders
The candidates are advised to give much importance to this essay while applying for the YouAreWelcomeHere scholarships.
The eligible courses for this scholarship depend on the institute the candidate is applying.

These scholarships are given to help the students for their higher studies in premier institutes as well as spreading the YouAreWelcomeHere message all across the globe.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility requirements for YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarships are mentioned below:

Nationality: All international fee-paying students, commencing studies on F-1 student visa.
Level of Study: first-year applicants in any selected course or study.
Should showcase interest in intercultural learning and exchange.
Should be applying to a university which is present in the list of participating US universities.

Application Process

- Personal details
- Academic qualifications
- Chosen UG course and university
Write an essay of 500-1000 words or record a video of 2 two 5 minutes.
- Prompt: “tell us about your leadership skills in your school or community, and how you are going to apply those leadership skills in the u.s institution you are applying to.”

NOTE: Some institutions nominate the applications based only on the essay or the video uploaded by the candidate demonstrating his/her leadership skills.

Selection Process

The participating colleges evaluate each scholarship application and select recipients based on the outlined criteria. Some of the factors included in the selection process are:

Academic achievements
Leadership skills
Written essay

The weightage of deciding factors varies from university to university. While some colleges prefer academics to leadership skills, some focus solely on written essays.

So, the candidates need to confirm the selection criteria with the applying institute as some colleges don’t accept the video to answer the prompt and accept only the essays in the Word format.
