University of Adelaide Research Scholarships

The University of Adelaide Research Scholarships are an opportunity for international commencing masters-research and doctorate degrees at the university. The scholarship program offers students with 28,597 AUD (16,04,594 INR) stipend. In addition to that students receive tuition fee waiver, health insurance, publication expenses.

  • University of Adelaide Research Scholarships are available in the following full-time programmes:
    • Master degree in Research for 2 years
    • Doctoral research degree for 3 years with a possible 6 months extension for the Doctorate of Philosophy
  • Students must be applying for an eligible University of Adelaide course.
  • Applications for the scholarship must be submitted before July 02, 2023, which is the upcoming round of applications.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants planning to be considered for University of Adelaide Research Scholarships, must satisfy the criteria mentioned below:

  • Applying to a full-time Masters/Doctorate by Research at University at Adelaide.
  • Have a first-class Australian honors degree or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in the English language (both spoken and written)
  • Commence study at the university in the semester the scholarship is offered.
    • commence their research programme in semester 1, 2024

Note: If the applicants are undergoing a degree, they will not be considered until after the

degree is completed. Furthermore, if they have already started the program, they will not be considered for the scholarship.


Application Process

The application process for the University of Adelaide is conducted online. The scholarship application (titled: Admission and a Scholarship) must be submitted using the online form.

To apply for the scholarship, the applicants have to:

  1. Create an account
  2. Fill the application profile form which includes personal details, visa application details, etc.
  3. Start your application and fill the scholarship you are seeking under the “Financial Support” section.
  4. Attach all necessary documents.
  5. Submit your application.

Documents Required

  • Academic transcript or degree certificate
  • Copy of a Valid passport for citizenship verification
  • English proficiency certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Cambridge CAE)
  • Reference letter (optional)
  • Updated CV
  • Research proposal (if applying for a Ph.D.)

Note: The documents should be electronic originals, which must be clear scanned copies of the original official documentation, provided by the awarding institution


Selection Process

All the applications are reviewed by the selection committee at the University of Adelaide. The final decision regarding the University of Adelaide Research Scholarships is made by the selection committee based on:

  • Academic records and qualification
  • Research proposal
  • English language scores

All the awardees are informed via email by March. Post selection, the selected scholars are asked to provide their bank account details.


Grant Details

The University of Adelaide Research Scholarships is a fully-funded programme and covers university tuition fees and a living allowance of AUD 28,597 and Health insurance with relocation and publication expenses.

Terms and Conditions

The University may terminate/withdraw the offer of the University of Adelaide Research Scholarships and allocate it to another applicant if:

  • The applicant does not commence by the agreed date.
  • Fails to provide required documents after a provisional offer.
  • Does not meet the legislative requirements outlined by the Australian Government and/or the University.
  • Provides misleading information or documentation in their application.
