The Generation Google Scholarship Canada & USA are designed for students commencing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the field of Computer Science. Awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need, the scholarship program is applicable in various Canadian and US universities.

The value of the award for the 2020-21 academic year is 5,000 USD and 10,000 USD for Canadian and US students respectively.
Recipients of other Google scholarships are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
The award is to be used towards the tuition fee, books, and supplies only.

The organization encourages Women, Afro-Americans, or similar groups who were not given the weightage or opportunities in this area of technology earlier.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility requirements for Generation Google Scholarship Canada & USA are mentioned below:

Must have attained the age of 18+ at the time of the application.
- those under 18 years of age have to have parent’s permission attached to the application.
Needs to be a full-time enrolled student in any US or Canadian universities.
- Commencing UG, PG, or PhD program
Enrolled in areas of Computer Science or related fields like Computer Technology, Computer Engineering, etc.
Have strong and excellent academic record
Demonstrate financial need to study in Canada/USA
Passion for extra-curricular activities, leadership skills, and innovation skills.

Note 1: It is not mandatory to be enrolled at the time of making the application but is advisable to seek the enrollment prior to making the application, to avoid last-minute tension.

Note 2: Those coming from the historically underprivileged groups will be given consideration before others.

Application Process

The applicant has to complete an online application to apply for the scholarship. Generation Google Scholarship Canada & USA application form must include following information:

Family and academic background
Details of academic transcripts
Three short essays about
- motivation to study the opted subject
- future vision, and related ideas
Enclose a CV/resume

These documents (transcripts, CV, Essays) are to be enclosed in the pdf form with the online application; hence the applicant must go through the application and keep these documents ready before he starts to fill the application.

Selection Process

The online application, past academic records, CV, and three essays asked in the application are all considered for selecting the candidates.

Grant Details

The Generation Google Scholarship is available only for Computer Science and related fields degree students. The applying candidate has to demonstrate an excellent academic record, financial need, and commitment and passion towards the subject area. Applicants of Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D. level are all eligible to apply for the award.

The winners will be informed by Google and they have to follow the instructions given to accept and then receive the award.

Terms and Conditions

Google has the right to revoke the award if the applicant is not able to meet the eligibility criteria even after winning the award.
The Generation Google Scholarship Canada & USA awards have to be spent on tuition, fees, books, supplies, or any equipment required by the applicant
Scholarship is directly disbursed to the university after verifying the enrollment and other credentials of the successful applicant.
An applicant under 18 years of age has to get the acceptance signed by the parents if they are successful in getting the scholarship.
Applicants need to follow all the instructions given by Google before, during, or after the application without fail.
Employees of Google are not eligible and so are the citizens of embargoed countries to Canada and USA.
