UKM Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships

UKM Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships are awarded by the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to prospective full-time masters by research and doctoral students. The scholars are awarded under two categories: Gold and Silver scholarships.

  • UKM Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships cover
    • semester tuition (renewable),
    • registration fees (one-time),
    • service and activities (including thesis and convocation) fees,
    • living allowance,
    • accommodation allowance, and
    • one round trip flight ticket
  • The scholarship period ranges from two semesters to six semesters.
  • The selection committee evaluates all submitted applications and sorts out the successful based on merit.
  • Applications can be accessed in the form PDF file. Post completion applicants need to send via post.
  • All recipients are notified of the status of their application within one month.

The latest deadline is yet to be announced.

Achievement evaluation of Gold and Silver Vice-Chancellor’s performance is held annually to evaluate recipients’ performance and determine their continuity in the award if they satisfy the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) provided.

Eligibility Criteria

Majority of the scholarship eligibility requirements for UKM Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships varies as per benefits. However, before planning to apply for the program, students must ensure that they

  • have not received any assistance/scholarships from the state or federal government or any institution.
  • do not have any debt or remaining fees with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)
  • secured minimum CGPA of 3.67 (on the scale of 4.0) or an equivalent from a recognized university.

Now the individual program requirements for the scholarships are:

  • UKM Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Scholarship
    • Masters: One published journal in Q2 and above level
    • Doctoral: Two published journal in Q2 and above level
  • UKM Vice-Chancellor’s Silver Scholarship
    • Masters: One published journal in Q3 and above level
    • Doctoral: Two published journal in Q3 and above level

Terms and Conditions

Students interested in this scholarship must take note of the following terms and conditions associated with the scholarship award:

  • Scholars are permitted to perform other activities that may affect their education.
  • Scholars are required to adhere to the University Rules and Regulations and other regulations in force at UKM.

Application Process

Applicants who meet the above eligibility criteria are required to download the application form for the UKM Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships. The application form comprises of different sections:

Also, while completing the form, students are required to present the following documents:

  • Copy of valid passport
  • One passport size photograph
  • Academic transcripts
  • Front page of published articles
  • Front page of UK Admission application form
  • Research proposal
  • Answer “Why should the UKM choose you for scholarship?”
  • Resume

Grant Details

The UKM Vice-Chancellor Scholarships, as stated, are segregated in two categories. The gold and silver category. The benefits of the scholarships are mentioned below:

UKM Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Scholarship

  • Waived tuition covering all semester
  • one-time registration fee,
  • service and activities (thesis and convocation inclusive) fees
  • living allowance of RM 2200.00 – RM 3200.00/month
  • accommodation allowance of RM300.00/month
  • one round trip flight ticket
  • cost of visa throughout postgraduate studies.

UKM Vice-Chancellor’s Silver Scholarship

  • Waived tuition for all semesters
  • one-time registration fee
  • living allowance of RM2000.00/month for PhD. and RM1500.00 for Masters candidates
  • accommodation allowance of RM300.00/month.

Students selected for the UKM Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships must maintain high academic performance throughout their studies.
