South Asia Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship

The South Asia Postgraduate Excellence Award, offered by the University of Nottingham, is for masters-level students from South Asian developing countries. The scholarship program is designed as a partial tuition fee waiver to incoming students. Recipients are awarded scholarship amount worth 4,000 GBP (3,99,096 INR).

  • Post University of Nottingham admission process, applicants are required to complete a separate scholarship application.
  • Eligible students are required to answers based on their academic qualifications, study plans, etc.
  • Selections are made primarily based on academic merit and answers giving in the scholarship application.
  • Students are required to be enrolled full time at the institute to receive this award.
  • Students are required to consent to represent the university in various scholarship and recruitment events.

Students are required to accept the scholarship offer within the established deadline, failing which the offer is liable to be revoked. South Asia Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship offers may not be deferred for a later year.

Eligibility Criteria

South Asia Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship is primarily awarded to aid talented students from developing countries to pursue an education at the University of Nottingham. In order to be eligible for the award, applicants must satisfy the following criteria

  • Citizenship: Citizens or permanent residents of
    • India
    • Bangladesh
    • Pakistan
    • Nepal
    • Bhutan
    • Sri Lanka
    • Maldives
  • Registered at the university as an overseas student for fee payment purposes.
  • Commencing full-time masters program at University of Nottingham

Application Process

Students may only apply for the South Asia Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship once they have received an offer of full-time study from the University of Nottingham. 

  • Students who have applied for a taught master's program may apply directly through the scholarship section of their application.
  • Students applying for a research-based masters program (MRes) program should contact the scholarship team at scholarship-assistant@nottingham.ac.uk for instructions on how to proceed with their scholarship application.

Selection Process

The Scholarship team at the University of Nottingham reviews each application received for the South Asia Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship on a case by case basis. Award decisions are made primarily based on an applicant’s

  • Academic merit
  • Questionnaire responses

Successful applicants will be notified via email approximately 6 weeks after the application deadline.

South Asia Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship is offered by the University of Nottingham. The scholarship aims at helping talented students from developing nations in the south Asian regions, pursue an education at the institute.

Terms & Conditions

Students who apply for and receive an international scholarship from the University of Nottingham are required to abide by certain rules and regulations. These are mentioned below:

  • Only students who accept the offer to study at the University of Nottingham will receive the scholarship offer.
  • Students may not combine this scholarship with any other International Student regional scholarship or the International Sporting Excellence Award. Students may accept other funding provided the funding does not exceed 100% of their tuition amount.
  • Students should maintain above-average academic scores so as not to have their scholarships revoked.
  • Students are required to notify the scholarship office before any change in the status of their enrollment, external funding received, and the program enrolled in.
    • If a student fails to notify the Office the scholarship is liable to be revoked and/ or reimbursed by the candidate.

South Asia Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship is an excellent opportunity for postgraduate students from developing nations in South Asia to apply to the institute. Students should, however, note that the scholarship is only applicable towards tuition fee waiver. They will be expected to finance their own living expenses (1,023 GBP/ month) during the period of study.
