Education for Sustainable Energy Development Scholarship Program

The Education for Sustainable Energy Development (ESED) Scholarship Program, offered by the Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership (GSEP), is awarded to students belonging to developing countries studying courses in sustainable energy development. Annually, 6-8 students pursuing master’s level studies in the USA, UK, Canada, etc. are recognized under this scholarship program.

Eligible students must be pursuing studies in fields of electric transportation, zero-carbon energy, advanced electricity technologies, political science or relevant disciplines.
Recipients of Education for Sustainable Energy Development scholarship are awarded 21,000 USD.
The ESED scholarship program is applicable for a maximum of two years.
An entire application package is to be submitted to be considered for the ESED scholarship program.
Latest deadline is yet to be announced.

Recipients of Sustainable Energy Development (ESED) Scholarship must return to their home country after completing their studies abroad and contribute to their country’s development.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to become eligible for the Sustainable Energy Development Scholarship, applicants must fulfill the given criteria:

belong to developing nations and must be committed to returning back to the home country after completion of the studies.
pursue full- time studies for at least 2 or 3 semesters (one complete school year), starting in autumn 2020.
- can opt for an eligible program in any university of UK, USA, Australia, etc.
be outstanding students with a good graduation score and belonging to the top 20% of their classes.
have a history of community involvement and should be committed to sustainable energy development.
determined students and interested in advancing their understanding and knowledge.

Note: Students who have already received full funding for their studies and those who have already received scholarships to cover their tuition fees are not eligible for the scholarship.

Application Process

Interested students will have to fill the online application form for Sustainable Energy Development scholarship. Application sent through email will not be accepted.

An electronic copy of the following documents has to be provided at the time of filling up the application form:

Birth certificate or passport
Updated Resume (details on education, awards, work experience, participation in other activities, etc.)
Official translated Transcripts from university
Admission letter from the university
Scores of tests like TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, etc.
Program outline
Provide a complete copy of Academic reference form
Personal or academic reference letter

The application process for 2020- 2021 will start from January 2020 and the deadline for the application is Mar 06, 2020.

Students who have not received their admission letter can also apply but they will have to send the admission letter by email to scholarship@globalelectricity.org before April 17, 2020. The application will not be considered if the candidate fails to send an admission letter by April 17, 2020.

Selection Process

Recipients of Sustainable Energy Development scholarship are selected on the basis of their

academic qualifications and achievements,
extracurricular records, and
work experience.

Other criteria are also considered while selecting eligible students. Academic Panel consists of representatives of notable academic institutions who will review the applications and select the deserving candidates for the scholarship.

The selected candidate will be contacted by the selection panel in May and their names will be posted on the website.

Grant Details

Education for Sustainable Energy Development (ESED) is offered to 6- 8 students from developing countries pursuing post-graduation courses in sustainable energy development annually. The amount offered as scholarship goes up to 21,000 USD per year and it can be awarded for a maximum of 2 years. It is eligible for universities of USA, Australia, Canada, UK, etc.

Students who are interested in the scholarship are advised to apply at the earliest.
