The UK Transport Secretary, the Rt Hon Grant Shapps, tweeted that India, the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain had been moved from the red list to the amber list. All of the amendments went into effect on August 8, 2021, at 4 a.m.

While he was right to be cautious, he added that adding more destinations would be fantastic news for individuals who wanted to connect with their families, businesses, and friends. He even credited the effective home immunisation programme in the United Kingdom for this.

Passengers on the amber list must complete a COVID-19 exam three days before their flight and pre-book two covid tests to be taken once they arrive in the UK. Passengers will also be required to complete a passenger locator form upon arrival.

After arriving in England, one must quarantine for 10 days at home or at the designated location, taking the COVID-19 test on or before the second day or after the eighth day.

Those under the age of 18 who have been fully vaccinated in the United Kingdom, the European Union, or the United States will be exempt from the home quarantine.

Those who are immunised overseas, are under the age of 18 on the day they arrive in England, are citizens of the UK or a country where a vaccination programme has been approved by the UK, and are participating in a UK-approved vaccination trial will also be exempt from the home quarantine.

Covishield, an Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine made in India, is likely to be covered under this.

For the time being, the UK government has raised the necessary hotel quarantine charges for solitary tourists from GBP 1,750 to GBP 2,285. The cost of sharing a room with another adult will rise from £650 to £1,430.

The country has added Austria, Slovenia, Latvia, Norway, Germany, Slovakia, and Romania to the green list. France has been delisted from the "amber watchlist."

Travelers from green-list nations will not be required to quarantine upon arrival in the UK, regardless of their vaccination status. However, they will be required to undergo a COVID-19 test prior to travel and another two days after arrival.
