• The Geography and History course at the University of Chester offers a balanced coverage of physical and human geography with opportunities to specialise in a broad range of topics. It provides the opportunity for specialist degree training in aspects of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS); focuses on transferable, employment-related skills and knowledge; provides UK residential fieldwork alongside opportunities for overseas fieldwork; uses the latest technological innovations in classroom and fieldwork contexts; and offers a wide variety of assessment types.
• Chester is an exciting place to study History Ð a Roman and medieval town with a key role in the Civil War that remains the capital of Cheshire.
• At Chester, the study of history ranges from the fall of Rome to Cold War America. You can explore turning points in history, the Vikings, the Crusades, the Consumer Revolution, the English Civil War, the Holocaust, and minorities and migration in the 19th and 20th centuries.
• The Department currently works with the Grosvenor Museum in Chester, and currently has use of the Cheshire Record Office and the Cheshire Military Museum archives.
