Tashina Madappa Review at University Of Strathclyde, Glasgow | Collegedunia

Self motivation to succeed in this program

TM
8.3 /10

The course offered was the first of its kind. A one-year Master's program that allowed me to continue working as it was part-time and distance learning. I always wanted to study law, but as I had pursued the sciences, I did not think it would be possible. The University of Strathclyde provided me with this amazing opportunity and I wasn't going to turn it down. The faculty was exceptional, and the overall learning experience was truly wonderful. My classmates were from different parts of the world and their knowledge and personal experiences with tackling climate change issues added to my learning.

Course Curriculum :

The course was very relevant and the course syllabus covered current goings-on. Assignments required considerable research.

Exams :

The admission for my course did not require a standardized test as my mother tongue was English and my previous courses were taught in the English medium.

Placement :

After I graduated, my LLM in Climate Change Law and Policy from the University of Strathclyde added tremendously to my CV. I was almost immediately recruited as a consultant to the World Bank to work on climate resilience development projects. I continue to work as a consultant to local and international research organizations working in the climate change space.

Internship :

No, I didn't get the internship.

Events :

Unfortunately, my course was distance learning and I did not get to spend any time on campus or at the Union. I did get to visit and it was simply lovely and made me wish I could have taken the course full-time.

Fees :

£14,000 is the program fee.

Scholarship :

I got the Goa Education Trust Scholarship (British Council of India), which partially covered my tuition with £11,000. Along with the scholarship application, my school transcripts, and recommendation letters from both University and then employer, I had to attend an interview.

Faculty :

Dr Francesco Sindico initiated the program in that I was enrolled. He was exceptionally passionate and saw the need to train interested candidates in Climate Change Law, which was still an emerging field. He brought a team of brilliant professors and professionals together who were merit to their field. Every class was interactive and there was never a dull moment.

Hostel :

The course was majorly distance learning, but we were expected to attend a two-week intensive session in the UK. The university arranged for classes to be held at Cameron House, on the beautiful shores of Loch Lomond. The tuition included the cost of stay (single rooms) and meals.
