Munira Binte Mostafa Review at Aston University, Birmingham | Collegedunia

Feeling the best at Aston University

MM
6.8 /10

I chose this program because I have always had an interest in photonics and wanted to further enhance my knowledge.

Course Curriculum :

The academics were very helpful and the standard of teaching is of high caliber. We had industrial demonstrations and many workshops. Each lecture was well planned, even the lecturers had to prepare the exam papers a month in advance and submit them to the board of examiners. The lecturers did not know whose papers they were grading. The grading was fair and just.

Exams :

My IELTS 8. The requirement was at least 6.5. The Minimum BSc grade was 2.2 for the application. My converted grade was 2.1.

Placement :

All the previous students that graduated from this program either got jobs or enrolled in PhDs abroad.

Internship :

No, I didn't get the internship.

Events :

The campus had everything for an enjoyable and exciting semester. From well-equipped libraries, gyms, dorms on campus, and even swimming pools.

Fees :

The fee is probably around £16000/yr.

Scholarship :

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree scholarship. 1000 Euro/month and all tuition fees were paid. There was no special application for the master. The scholarship was granted based on merit.

Faculty :

I had 12 students in my MSc program. A lecturer has been appointed for each module. He was very knowledgeable. AIPT Professor Paul Harper was an incredible lecturer.

Hostel :

There was cheap accommodation of around £300 per month or more expensive on campus at around £700 per month. Accommodation is shared with four people in each unit. To get cheap dorms like Aston Brook Green (ABG), apply in advance to secure a spot.
