The MBA program offered by UWS, Scotland, is better suited for professionals who have a decent amount of work experience. The program also requires students to partake in research - both academically and as part of an internship program during the course. The subjects are catered towards managers and towards upskilling their toolset. These points were things that I wanted from an MBA program that I wished to pursue.

Course Curriculum

8

The curriculum was divided into 3 semesters. First and second semesters dealt with subjects ranging from Basic Finance, Marketing Management, and Tools for Managers. Through this period students are encouraged to self study through primary source of data collections like books, articles, financial reports, and peer-reviewed studies. Since there is no exam based format, students are expected to submit their essays and presentations which is then checked by the respective subject professors. The final semester requires students to take up an internship with any company of their choice and work towards a Hypothesis on their area of interest. Students collect data from the workplaces and compile a structured submission of their findings.

Exams

IELTS score above 7.0, Work experience preferred : In general atleast 2 years of previous work experience

Placement

7

There were many placement program through the Student Centre and many companies from UK and MNCs attended the same. Since I wanted to return to India after graduation I did not take up these opportunities. The Certificate is well regarded in Industrial circles and is recognized.

Events

The campus was quite extensive and was well connected throughout with Internet. Extra curricular activities involved sports program and a graduation day program. The overall experience was positive.

Scholarship

No

Faculty

8

The campus life was comfortable and safe. Faculty to student ratio was about 1: 15. The faculty and staff were extremely helpful and courteous. Professor Nirmaalya Biswas was the head of department during my course period and he was an interesting and stimulating figure I looked up to.

Hostel

8

There were hostel facilities available as well as several PG homes in the vicinity of the college. The campus building was high tech and contained all the modern facilities.
