I laid more emphasis on the way the course was structured in this University. Exposure to the current industry tools is very important these days. Also, the University should be able to give you an opportunity to shine in your areas of interest beyond academics. Surrey was a perfect match for these criteria.
Course Curriculum
The course gets updated every year so as to make it more relevant to the industry standards. I know this for a fact because I was asked to give a feedback after I got placed (so that they knew what kind of expertise were the companies expecting).
Exams
I just had to give IELTS in which I scored 8.5. I believe this is a standard ask for every University.
Placement
Excellent. The median salary was 35000 pounds. Surrey has a dedicated 'Surrey Pathfinder' application in which companies post their job openings 'only' for the University of Surrey students.
Internship
N/A
Fees
32000 pounds (along with the placement year)
Scholarship
Yes. 2500 pounds/year as the Surrey Business School Scholarship.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is 20:1 The faculty and staff are very helpful and even more supportive when they understand that the student is actually interested in something outside the scope of the course but yet relevant. They helped me with a lot of such research work. They are very approachable, especially Dr. Vikas Gupta who was the faculty of one of my core modules. He also helped me with my research after the completion of the course.
Campus Life
Since it is located in Surrey, the campus is definitely better than you could possibly imagine it to be. It is humongous with all the facilities you could probably expect. There is a separate Surrey Sports Park which is dedicated to all the activities. The Swimming pool is an Olympic grade swimming pool. There are multiple grounds dedicated to different sports, apart from a few turfs.
Hostel
I lived in the campus accommodation itself and I believe that is the major factor that worked to my advantage. It served as a great experience because I got to interact and live with so many other people whom I otherwise would not have able to meet and learn from. The rooms were decent sized. The corridors and common areas were super clean. The kitchen used to get cleaned everyday (which is a very big advantage, none of the other Universities have this facility).
