It is part of the Russell Group and it has a very good reputation in chemistry, particularly, in polymer science and development. Also, they were very nice to send me to my home address post-cards inviting me to their open days.
Course Curriculum
The course curriculum fits my expectations very well. Before accepting the university's program, I checked the courses and lecturers that are here just to make sure it is what I want. Also, I spoke with past alumni about their experience here so I get a clear review of the program.
Events
Women's day is the most recent event celebrated at the university. It is very nice because it creates awareness of women in science. The department of chemistry also made an effort to organize special events for female students.
Fees
The fees are a bit higher than expected, but the government's loan can cover it. The fee is structured in 3 parts, and they take money from my account at a certain date, which can be extended up to 2 weeks. I like that there is the possibility of extending the date because I want to make sure the student's loan company sends the money first and then the university can take it.
Examination Structure
The exam structure is very similar to other universities. During term time I need to complete workshops, which are part of my overall grade, and in the exam session, I have usually only paper-based exams. The duration of the exams is usually around 3 h.
Faculty
The faculty of science at the University of Sheffield has a very reputable image in the country and worldwide for their research and developments. This is why I decided to do my master's here.
Hostel
I live in uni accommodation because I felt that this is the safest environment for me, as I am new in the city and I do not know exactly what to expect from landlords here. Also, the price is not that high and I do not have to pay the bills, as they are covered by my fee.
