I chose Manchester Metropolitan University because it offered me a great learning experience and how MMU can help build my career in the sports industry. As I am doing sports management and Manchester has two big football clubs, it was a greater chance to learn how the work is done in elite clubs.
Course Curriculum
I am in my second year and I am proud to say I gained a lot of experience in my first year and did get to explore the sports industry in terms of various sports such as football. For my first year, I had only assignments no exams due to COVID-19 however the assignments taught me how to research and apply the knowledge in those specific 2000 words.
Exams
For application, I had to submit 1 SoP, 1 LoR. In my SoP, I highlighted what made me passionate about wanting to pursue a career in sports and how it all started. I highlighted why the UK would provide me a huge opportunity to build my career. My LoR focused on how involved I am with all the ongoing activities including dance sports and various other competitions. It focused more on the sports side than academically due to my course being more sports-oriented. No, I just had to meet my conditional offer in order to have a successful application. The university was highly valued my SoP as a big part of my application.
Placement
I do have a sandwich placement year as part of my course gave an opportunity to work in the sports industry.
Internship
At the moment I am just doing volunteering work.
Events
The university has various sporting events taking place all the time. As a sports enthusiast, I attended handball practices and even represented MMU at the university championship. I also took part in other events such as dancing and other Indian society events related to sports and dance. The infrastructure is very well designed and gives a modern touch to the university.
Fees

Scholarship
Yes, I got the International Undergraduate Scholarship which is 2000/ year. The scholarship was open to all international students.
Faculty
I had four units which mean 4/6 different professors, a personal tutor who would check in with me once every two months time to see if I have adjusted well as an international student. The sessions with the professors were very engaging and quite Lively.
Hostel
I currently live in ropemaker court, 15 mins walk from my University, it's student accommodation for the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University students. The place is quite cheap and very well designed, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The average rent in Manchester is 150/160.
