  • The Master of Public Health award (MPH) is an internationally recognised qualification in Public Health. It is aimed at a wide range of people from both the UK and abroad, from NHS and non-NHS backgrounds including those in primary or secondary care, health authorities and primary care trusts, nursing and professions related to medicine, health promotion, health care research, health management and anyone wishing to develop a career in public health.
  • At the end of this BA in at you, the student, will be able to:
    • Demonstrate a good knowledge of economic and social policy concepts, principles and tools and be competent in the application of the knowledge to a wide range of situations in a national or international context.
    • Use appropriate research methods, quantitative techniques and software packages to analyse data and evidence from a range of sources and to critically interpret the outcomes of this analysis.
    • Apply economic reasoning to a range of policy issues and appreciate that a number of alternative explanations and prescriptions may exist.
    • Apply social policy theories to analyse social needs and assess policy intervention.

Academics

  • A 2:2 degree in a health related topic (see criteria above) with additional public health experience may be considered.
  • Any 'non-standard' qualification judged by the award team to be equivalent of the above (e.g. a relevant professional qualification or public health-related experience) .

  • Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
