- Human Biology is the integrated study of human anatomy and physiology, including the study of the body in health and disease. It covers a wide range of topics, ranging from genetics, microbiology, and immunology to the core disciplines of anatomy, microanatomy, and physiology.
- The degree is designed to allow a greater degree of flexibility in the choice of modules, in comparison to the closely related degree in Biomedical Sciences.
- Specialist subject areas which can be studied in detail include Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Cardiovascular Pathology and Treatment, Topographical Anatomy, Exercise, and Sports Science in Medicine, Embryology and Developmental Biology, Public Health Science, and Neuroscience.
- Within these subject areas, they provide a wide and innovative range of learning experiences, such as the use of ultrasound imaging in cardiovascular physiology and exposure to cadaveric dissection.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- AB (in any order in Biology/Human Biology and Chemistry) B plus GCSE Mathematics grade C/4
OR
A (Biology/Human Biology or Chemistry) AB including a second science subject plus GCSE Biology and Chemistry grade C/4 or GCSE Double Award Science grades CC/4,4 plus GCSE Mathematics grade C/4. - A minimum of a 2:2 Honours Degree provided any subject requirement
Indian students eligibility:
Applicants must have the following qualifications to be eligible for direct admission:
- Three A levels
- Between 30 and 36 points in the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB).
- The Standard Indian XII (10+2) examinations from CBSE, CISCE or State Boards of Higher Secondary Education are acceptable for admission to their Bachelor's degree programmes.
An average mark of 70 - 85% or higher (best of 5 academic subjects) in the Standard Indian XII Higher Secondary School certificates awarded by the central boards (CBSE, CISCE) or a state board, or equivalent, with 75% or higher where subject requirements are stipulated (comparable with Grade B at A-Level).
Applicants will normally need to demonstrate a level of English equivalent to 6.5 IELTS or 90 TOEFL IBT (Internet-based test). However, some degree programmes have higher or lower requirements.
