- M.Phil in Materials Science and Metallurgy at the University of Cambridge is offered on a full-time basis for a duration of 12 months.
- This is an on-campus and thesis-based program.
- Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the Goldsmiths' Seminar Series, especially those lectures that are in their area of research interest.
- There are no compulsory lecture courses associated with this course but MPhil students are encouraged to attend undergraduate and postgraduate lecture courses that are relevant to their studies.

- A small number of students (usually five or fewer) are admitted to the 1-year MPhil by thesis in Materials Science each academic year.
- MPhil students are encouraged to participate in many of the training opportunities provided by the department.
- The department has over 30 academic staff including research fellows, more than 50 administrative, technical, and support staff, and roughly 80 postdoctoral researchers, 130 research students, and 30 visiting scientists at any time.
- Students wishing to continue to PhD level research (which takes a minimum of a further 3 years) may apply during the master's year.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must complete a UK bachelor's honors degree, or equivalent in a related field from a recognized university.
- Students should have achieved at least an upper second-class honours degree or equivalent prior to admission.
- Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or C1 Advanced-Grade A or B (with at least 193 in each individual element) plus a language center assessment.
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) or C2 Proficiency-Grade A, B, or C (with at least 200 in each individual element).
- Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL to get admission in this program.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they complete one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Completed a 4-year bachelor's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Or, completed a B.Sc/B.Com/B.A (3-4 year) degree from well-ranked institutions with an overall grade of 70% or CGPA 7.3+.
