This degree provides you with the concepts and mathematical tools for a deep understanding of modern physics. Your tutors are world leaders in areas of research, such as quantum information, condensed matter theory, cosmology, string theory and astrophysics. The course is accredited by theÊInstitute of PhysicsÊ(IOP) and has been designed to have a cutting edge curriculum. The option of a foundation year is ideal if you do not have suitable qualifications for direct entry to the BSc degree. The four year integrated Masters degree is designed for students wishing to develop advanced research and development skills, and fully satisfies the educational requirements of the Chartered Physicist (CPhys) professional qualification.Ê
Future Prospects
Our graduates have found work in the UK and overseas with major companies such as Reckitt Benckiser, Rolls Royce and Atkins Engineering. Graduates are also in high demand in laboratories at Jodrell Bank, National Physical Laboratory or National Nuclear Laboratory. And there are opportunities in medical physics within the NHS, with some graduates entering NHS graduate schemes.
There is great demand for Physics teachers and there are generous scholarships available. Alternatively, some students prefer to continue their studies on MSc and PhD study courses.
