In addition to offering students the opportunity to progress in their knowledge and understanding of the traditional linguistics sub-disciplines of Sociolinguistics, Psycholinguistics and Discourse Analysis, this course includes a forward-thinking Digital Linguistics strand to provide our students with a more versatile and balanced trans-disciplinary experience appropriate to engage with the new media age.
The BA in English Language (Hons) at Coventry University looks at language, and specifically English, from multiple perspectives including its structure, nature, how it reflects Ð and is reflected by Ð society, and how it is processed in the brain.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must achieve an overall score of 60% minimum in the standard XII examination.
- Students also have 65% in Maths and 65% in one from subjects such as Physics/ Chemistry/ Electronics/ Engineering/ Further Mathematics/ Computer Science/ Computing/ Design Tech.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they complete one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Students must achieve 60% overall achieved in a 3 or 4 years Engineering or Technology Diploma.
- Students must achieve an overall score of 60% minimum in the Standard XII examination with a minimum of 65% in the key relevant subject; i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
- 60% in Standard XII English language from certain examination boards only (Central boards, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Uttarakhand).
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/PTE or any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
