Similarly, the maintenance or re-introduction of rare species requires a thorough understanding of all the ecological interactions involved. In this course you will learn the principles of how plants and animals interact with each other and the environment, using both theoretical and practical tools to understand the complex behaviour of life on Earth. Your studies will cover diversity and genetics, terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, and a range of ecological perspectives Ð combined with relevant, hands-on fieldwork.

Ecological considerations impact on all aspects of our lives. For example, the interactions between bees and flowers determine seed set and understanding how fungal pathogens affect crops is important in determining yield. The Ecology and Environment programme is offered at the Royal Holloway University of London.

You will gain an impressive portfolio of transferable skills that are highly attractive to employers in a wide range of sectors. Over the last five years 97% of our students have been placed in graduate positions within six months of completing their degree.
