Distinctive features of this course

As a Joint Honours degree student you will study both subjects equally offering you a wide choice of options within subjects. You will have the opportunity to focus on the close study of texts in original languages along with history in chronological depth (from post-Roman history to the late Middle Ages) and geographical breadth (with a European focus but also encompassing South America, Byzantine history and Iran. There are a number of specialist topics that you can pursue including the study of extra-biblical texts, or the historical development of the early church, British cinema history, modern Iranian history or environmental history. It may be possible to spend a semester or year studying abroad as part of this degree programme.
