The BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering includes a range of fundamental topics in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, and design, as well as specialist aerospace and aeronautical topics such as aerodynamics, aircraft performance, flight dynamics, avionics, aircraft systems, aircraft structures, aircraft design, and propulsion systems. This course includes an optional year in the industry, at no extra cost.
Top five reasons to study aerospace engineering at Teesside:
- Professional accreditation: this course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, under license from the Engineering Council.
- Real-world experience: take a flight test course in a Jetstream aircraft at no extra cost.
- State-of-the-art facilities: test aircraft designs in our six-degree of motion Merlin Flight Simulator, and learn in the well-equipped laboratories which include fixed and rotary-wing aircraft and their components.
- Extra-curricula activities: take part in activities including our TU2Space, and aircraft design and build projects.
- Financial awards: study this course and students may be eligible for a number of scholarships and awards to support them through their studies.
- The Jetstream aircraft flight test involves acquiring flight data as the aircraft undergoes a series of pre-planned maneuvers. The data is used, together with the theory covered in the classroom, to calculate the flight and performance characteristics of the aircraft.
- If students have a passion for aircraft, or you simply wish to develop into an engineer with wide and varied engineering skills applicable across a range of industries, then this program is right for them. They may also be interested in the integrated masters.
