The work of a building surveyor is varied with no two days being the same and requires a technically minded pragmatic thinker who will become very adaptable.
You can expect to use your technical and legal expertise inÊprojects ranging from brand new multi million pound commercial developments to small-scale refurbishments and conversions of residential buildings in a variety of different roles including project manager, designer and contract administrator.
Building pathology skills and knowledge will be regularly tested inÊthe preservation of fragile or historic structures and the survey and inspection of a range of properties.ÊAs a building surveyor you will have a rewarding and fulfilling career due to the breadth of skills, knowledge and abilities you will gain.Ê

The course has been developed to meet the professional requirements of RICS and on completion you will be eligible for graduate membership, the first step to becoming a fully qualified chartered surveyor.
The optional placement year gives you the opportunity to gain invaluable work experience in surveying or property related employment. Placement students typically work as trainee surveyors in in either public or private sector organisations in the UK or globally with students previously working in New Zealand and Hong Kong. This year in industry counts as one of the two years in professional practice that you need to become fully chartered.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students need a high school degree or equivalent from a recognized institution. or
- Students can provide A-level, BTEC Diplomas/Extended Diplomas, Scottish and Irish Highers, Access to HE Diplomas, or the International Baccalaureate.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Students need a Standard XII/Class XII from CBSE, CISC with 65% and above.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
