Huge campus, the fact that it's a state university, lower tuition fees, the flexibility of selection of subjects for graduating, project/thesis option, the fact that everybody completes their masters in 1.5 years instead of 2 years, good placements with amazon being the mass recruiter, good quality research, good reputation, lower living expenses, lower rent for on-campus housing, many facilities, free university transportation, etc.

Course Curriculum

10

The course curriculum is the updated one. Assignments are tough. Conceptual learning is stressed via assignments, projects, etc. The independent study option allows you to work on research projects and industrial projects under a professor.

Exams

GRE(314): Verbal-148, Quants-166, AWA-4.0 TOEFL: 101/120. Apart from this, 3 LORs, SOP, and Transcripts, are also required.

Placement

9

For the Computer Science branch, opportunities are very good in terms of placements with Amazon being the mass recruiter. In addition to that, people wishing to pursue Ph.D. also have a lot of opportunities. They get to work on industry projects.

Internship

No, I didn't get an internship.

Events

The campus is huge with all kinds of facilities. There is a recreational center which is equipped with a gym, stadium, running tracks, games, etc. There are dining centers. The Student Activity Center is the busiest and the prettiest. It is the major center of attraction for the university. Campus infrastructure is great. University buses are free and the frequency is quite good too. Wifi is free throughout the whole campus. The on-campus housing is well furnished too. Almost all facilities like electricity, gas, wifi, etc are covered in the rent itself. Houses have a dedicated cooking space with burner, oven, microwave, and 2 big refrigerators. Overall the infrastructure is great.

Fees

It depends on the credits. For masters 31 credits are compulsory and every credit costs around $964 apart from the other fees like health insurance, transportation, etc. Every semester all credits taken above 12 aren't charged. Approximately the tuition fee is around $40000 for two years.

Scholarship

No, I didn't receive any scholarship.

Faculty

7

The faculty is good. For the computer science department alone, there are around 56 professors. Apart from this, there are affiliated professors who teach in the computer science department. Professors are quite approachable. It just takes one email to set up an appointment and approach them.

Hostel

9

There are 3 major residential areas namely West, Schomburg, and Chapin in decreasing order of rent. Chapin is the cheapest and all Indians prefer living in Chapin. The rent ranges from $600 to $1500 depending on the type of room you choose. For a 2 bedroom 4 people apartment the rent is around $700 including all facilities. For family housing i.e 1 bedroom apartment, the rent is around $1200 to $1400. The rooms are well furnished. Every week the people of the residence come for cleaning.
