Outstanding architecture program. I am also close to family here and that was a big deciding factor. Louisiana Tech also offered me many scholarships, one of which is to waive mine out of state tuition.
Course Curriculum
The architecture curriculum is good, but it does require a lot of electives that I do not feel contribute to your learning and experiences as a future architect. I also wish there were other architecture courses offered outside of the ones that are required.
Exams
The ACT is what my school took and Louisiana tech accepted that. I got a 24 on the test which was a high enough score to waive out of state tuition.
Placement
Louisiana Tech ranks very high for job opportunities after graduation. I believe it is higher than 85% of people find a job within 6 months of graduating from Louisiana Tech. Louisiana Tech is also there to help you after graduation if needed.
Internship
It does not. However, they do encourage you to get an internship outside of Louisiana Tech for real experience hours before graduating. Other majors outside of architecture might provide internships, however, I cannot be sure of that.
Events
It really depends on what groups you are a part of. The college as a whole definitely celebrates fall and spring fling and we usually do movie nights in the football stadium. These are really fun because we watch them on the big screen.
Fees
There are a few schools of design fees each quarter, tuition, room and then whatever meal plan you choose.
Scholarship
Yes, I have mine out of state tuition waived which was automatically applied once I sent in my ACT score.
Examination Structure
Exams are required differently for each class. As for architecture, we don't do exams, but we do a mid-review and final review which we present to the class and judges what we have spent the quarter working on.
Faculty
The faculty is focused on their students. They are always there to help, no matter what hour day or night. They have your best interest in mind and they get to know you personally.
Hostel
Off-campus worked better for me, however still having a meal plan is nice so that I don't have to leave campus. The new dorms look extremely nice and are turning into apartment-style living so people are turning to those more.
