This campus is very close to home and has been spoken very highly of by alumni and many others. At my high school, we had several options as to where we were able to attend classes for PSEO (post-secondary enrollment option) which is when high school students are able to take college-level classes for both college and high school credit. Out of the 5 choices for schools I was given, MSU stood out to me the most due to the beautiful campus, medium class size (ideal for me), proximity to home and school, and great reputation. I had been told several of the other possible schools would be easier to attend but had my heart set on attending MSU for the reasons listed above and many more that made it such an appealing choice.

Course Curriculum

8

I believe that there is a steady and wide range of various different types of the curriculum throughout courses at MSU that are beneficial for all types of learners. There are hands-on classes and online classwork but there are also written and auditory options for that type of learner. The curriculum itself is generally pretty organized and well written to fit the learning requirements.

Exams

Being that I am a 4.0 high school student, I didn't think college would be anything difficult to get into. However, I quickly found out testing was not my strong suit. The ACT came as an unpleasant surprise to me. I went into it with no preparation and without tutoring like several of my peers had. The reason I initially chose to join this program (PSEO) was to enrich my learning while simultaneously receiving credit for my hard work. I surprised myself with a score of a 28. Although I was not entirely satisfied this was above the required 24 to get into the PSEO program at MSU. Yet another reason pushing me to go and attend classes there.

Placement

7

I do not know about these opportunities. I know that the percentage of students that get placed is generally high but it is not something that had been boasted about on brochures or anything and has thus not stood out to me.

Internship

Yes, they do offer these things. However, the process to become involved in them and apply are several difficult steps that must be taken online. I believe you have to go online and sign up for a certain program in which you write a resume and submit a large amount of other information before you can even be given available jobs. You then have to individually apply for each of those jobs again.

Events

10

Homecoming is celebrated with doughnuts and Dunkin coffee for students in the morning. Parades and concerts are also performed for students throughout various times of the year.

Fees

This semester I would have owed $4,000 alone for classes and $500 for books but because I am PSEO I do no have to pay any of these costs as they are covered by my school. I know there are several scholarships available for minority and international student populations. Criteria depend upon the student and their individual abilities.

Scholarship

No.

Examination Structure

The exam structure varies between classes. However, it is always consistent within that class, be it an open note exam or an online quiz.

Faculty

5

The faculty-student ratio is good.
