Brigham Young University - Idaho, Marriage and Family

BYUI was my college of choice since my second year of high school. With its high acceptance rate, low tuition costs and safe environment it was the best fit for me. It was close to the majority of my family members and several of my friends were attending. I applied to two other schools but BYUI was my top choice. There was a $50 application fee but the low tuition rates made the fee worth it.

Course Curriculum

10

I found the curriculum to be well managed and beneficial.

Exams

I had an interest in how to create long-lasting relationships and in the best ways to care for children and families. The major of Marriage and Family was the best fit for me. I was able to take many courses in child development as well as relationship skills. There were no exams or scores that were needed to get it. It?s an undergrad program.

Placement

8

I am not clear as to how this works. I never looked into it. I know that there are many career fairs and interviews done. I know that the majority of students will graduate with a decent paying job if they are willing to put in the effort and work to get it.

Internship

I know that they do but I am not sure how to get one or any other information. They have many positions available for students to work. The cafeteria is a popular one. Students can be tutors, janitors, and teaching assistants. I believe all that you have to do is apply. Students are only allowed to work 20 hours a week and make $9 an hour I think. I worked off-campus so I'm not positive about everything.

Events

8

There were many events that were celebrated. Constitution day is celebrated by placing American flags all around campus. There are over 100 placed.

Fees

I believe that there are options for international students but I am not sure as to what they are the tuition fee is the same for all programs. It changes every year so I am not sure what it is currently. I think it is around $2,500 a semester. It was easy to pay fees. Everything was completed online.

Scholarship

Yes, I did. All I did to receive these was fill out the required applications. It was not hard. If you maintain good grades and are at a certain income level, you have better chances at receiving awards

Examination Structure

There is a testing center where you go to take exams or many are available online. It depends on the class and teacher.

Faculty

10

The faculty were very helpful and were able to teach in a way that was easy to understand. I enjoyed going to class. The teachers were for the most part honest and open about grading policies and were always willing to lend a hand when needed.

Hostel

I lived in an apartment off-campus. There were six total residents. All students had to live in housing that was approved by the school. There were a lot of options to choose from. There were no on-campus housing options. I bought my own groceries and made my own meals. The biggest challenge was living with roommates.
