BYU Provo

Growing up, I watched as my older siblings, as well as their friends, went off to college, many to BYU. When they came home for breaks I heard stories of professors who cared about their students and their work as well as peers who had similar goals as them. These qualities are what made me interested in attending BYU. The application process was fairly simple - a single application and application fee that allowed you to send your answers to all 3 of BYU campuses at once. I chose to attend BYU Provo, the most competitive of all 3 campuses, due largely to the quality of their nursing program and the academic rigor they were known for. As I only applied to 4 schools total - the others being BYU Idaho, University of Utah, and Utah State - I was relieved to have gotten in. Besides their academic programs, a huge draw to BYU for me was their low price tuition and the scholarship package I was offered as a result of my ACT score, class rank, and GPA. I was accepted with a 34 ACT score, and a 4.0 GPA, although I credit my acceptance more heavily to my variety of extracurriculars including leadership positions and volunteer experience.

Exams :

ACT 34. While there are no minimum scores, the Nursing program at BYU aid fairly competitive and requires a high GPA as well as a high ACT score. I chose this nursing program due to its state of the art facilities and the small class sizes. Students can get the attention they need from their professors as each semester only has 65 students in the program.

Fees :

The tuition fee is $2800 per semester. I received a private scholarship for academic excellence for $2000 each semester. I received loans through the government directly through FASFA for $1800 a semester. There are a variety of scholarships available and the student financial aid office can work with students to assist in finding other scholarships outside of the school.

Faculty :

I believe the faculty at BYU is excellent. They all not only care about their students and the subjects they teach, but they go above and beyond to help students grasp the material. Any interested student can work with professors on research projects as the majority of professors hold PHDs. Professors also offer office hours outside of class which is a great way to get more individualized attention.
