University of North Carolina's Review

RM
5.3 /10

It was a public liberal arts school, and they offered me a higher ratio of money. It was a lot easier to get into than a private school. I got into my #1 school, Wake Forest, but they were too expensive.

Course Curriculum :

It is average at best. It is very whitewashed and on the surface. There aren't many fields that are doing remarkable work. Sociology specifically is so small that it is lumped into anthropology, which forces people to study and major in something they don't necessarily want to study.

Exams :

SAT ACT PSAT I also took a straight International Bachelorette curriculum and took all of my exams that went along with that.

Placement :

We have a good career center. I'm not sure how to direct placements work. We also use Handshake which is a college version of LinkedIn. I do know that lots of people have problems getting jobs to post-grad just because a large part of the student body goes into fields like art or history.

Internship :

It helps connect people If internships if they choose to do one for credit. I am doing one and I didn't need much help with the process but they were ready to assist f needed. The stipend and experience really depend on the internship. One of the complaints I've heard is that the class component is based on learning your career path and making sure what you wanna do truly is what you want, and lots of people at UNCA are nontraditional students who already have careers and have decided to go in another direction, so they need less guidance but the activities are still required.

Events :

Homecoming Exam week National week's Health care Springs arrival Ted X The turning of the Maples Sporting events We have media events, movies, viewing parties We don't have a lot of traditions or events on campus. It's pretty sad.

Fees :

We get semester broken down bills. We can pay online or in person. They're usually pretty flexible with payments.

Scholarship :

It is a lengthy process. I am different because I am an independent student so I have a lot of extra steps for financial aid, but usually, it's pretty painless.

Examination Structure :

Pretty average. It is nothing out of the ordinary. We have an exam week and it is set up once class registration is started. The degree of the exam is really up to the professor. Some professors don't hold a final.

Faculty :

They're pretty good. Sociology is blessed with some amazing people, but really outside of my soc bubble, I hear a lot of stories of awful professors, especially in the humanities courses which all are required to take.

Hostel :

I lived in a campus dorm the entire time I've been here. This year I moved into a campus apartment. They were new this year. Other times I just lived in a basic single dorm in a suite-style complex.
