Catherine Tabor Review at University Of Alabama [UAB], Birmingham | Collegedunia

I love my college, It's a great place to be.

8.5 /10

This college is close to my home and it offered a great scholarship package. I want to practice law in Alabama, so it made sense to attend here. I went to a large university, so having a large university feel with the smaller law school community appealed to me.

Course Curriculum :

I like the current curriculum offered by UA Law, however, I think Legislation Regulation should be replaced by Evidence as a required course. Additionally, I think that the legal writing department is not emphasized enough.

Exams :

I took the ACT and scored a 31. I took the SAT but I have forgotten my score. It was equivalent to a 31. I took the LSAT and scored a 163. These scores were not fabulous, but they netted me good scholarships. I didn't study.

Placement :

The placements are great. We have alumni in all 50 states. The career services office helps us find jobs in the markets that we want. The opportunities vary depending on class rank but everyone gets a job.

Internship :

The school provides an on-campus interview process. It, however, does not directly provide internships that are available to all students. The OCI process is great though and many students find jobs through it.

Fees :

Tuition is the bulk of the expense. It's like $10,000 a semester. The books are very costly. The parking permit costs $450 but that is okay because we get our own parking lot which is unique. There's a technology charge. But overall, it is affordable.

Faculty :

I love the faculty. It is the most appealing aspect of going to UA. Our professors are brilliant and they are widely published. Moreover, they all care about us as students and people, which is different than at some other schools. I have great interpersonal relationships with my professors and I love it.
