Hannah Shanno Review at East Carolina University [ECU], Greenville | Collegedunia

The Awesomeness of ECU

HS
9.2 /10

Price and proximity to home town. ECU is a decently priced university and is only an hour away from my hometown. I'm able to go home for long weekends without stressing about gas prices. ECU also has a medical school that only accepts in-state residents.

Course Curriculum :

I think curriculums are a solid way to score students but I think professors should have the option to stray from the curriculum. I don't think standardized tests or classes work for all students but curriculums can be helpful so that you know what's expected of you.

Exams :

I've taken the Sat and Act both before I entered college. I also took a Spanish placement test so that I wouldn't have to retake Spanish. I placed out of the math placement for taking AP courses in high school. I will be taking the MCAT in April.

Internship :

Yes, I did an internship at Vidant medical center for one semester. No stipend was provided but I received class credit for the internship. My experience was amazing and I was able to work on my Spanish while seeing doctors interacting with bilingual patients.

Fees :

I receive financial aid but the fees are tuition, health, sports and other fees. You?re able to access all the information through an online portal and ECU separates it so it?s easy to understand and comprehend.

Examination Structure :

It varies in classes. All of my exams with my new major are essay based but when I was a biology major most exams were multiple choice or short answer. A lot of entry-level classes are also multiple choice or short answer.

Faculty :

Most faculty that I have worked with have been understanding and worried about grades. Since class sizes are generally small, professors are able to give one on one time to students through the use of office hours.
