It gave me the most money in financial aid! Also, I liked how it was close to home and I'm always able to go back for breaks and holidays. The school is very small and I can get to know my classmates and professors extremely well which is also nice.
Course Curriculum :
I like the course curriculum but I also think that it could be much better. There are many requirements for the first years, and it limits what classes you can take and what you want to do. There is a full year language requirement, and a full year of Chemistry required for medical students. Also, you have to take physical education credits.
Exams :
I did not take a lot of exams back when I was a senior at my high school. I only took the SAT, and a few AP exams so I could look competitive to other colleges. My SAT was above average, and most of my AP scores were low except for my AP Psychology one.
Placement :
I don't know much about the placements and job opportunities on campus. Because Haverford is such a small, unknown school, I don't know how that would affect getting a job. I think that Haverford gives us a lot of work, only to be unprepared to face the real world.
Internship :
My college provides internships for many students interested. However, a lot of these internships require you to stay on campus and since I am unhappy at Haverford, I'm not interested in applying either. Many of the stipends I believe are at least $2000 or more for summer.
Events :
I feel like a majority of the events here are for athletes, not so much for regular students. When I try to think of events, I truly cannot think of any to write. This campus is often very quiet and very boring; there isn't much going on.
Fees :
The tuition here is very expensive, at over $70,000. However, financial aid here is extremely good. A large chunk of your bill is for tuition, then housing, food, and other little things. For a low-income person such as myself, I pay around $600 each semester which is amazing.
Scholarship :
Financial aid consists of completing your FAFSA, CSS profile, and then uploading documents through iDOC. The financial aid process is very long, but the one thing this school does well gives out financial aid to low-income students.
Examination Structure :
In the fall, we don't have a lot of time to study for midterms. However, for fall midterms, we get about a week to study and take our exams. In the spring, midterms are also squeezed in. However, it is nice that for spring finals, we have 2 weeks to fully study for our exams and do well on them.
Faculty :
I really love all of my professors. They have always been very helpful towards me and they seem to be very understanding. Especially in my Chinese and Writing courses, I was able to get close to my professors and now we talk all the time!
Hostel :
In my scholarship, housing is completely paid for. I live in one of the nicest dorms on campus with other people in my Customs group (an orientation program). The outside of the dorm is very ugly, but the inside is a lot cleaner and we have very nice bathrooms.
