Mechanical engineering is concerned with so many areas of modern technology that the tasks and challenges of the mechanical engineer are most interesting and varied
Students gain an ability to specify, model, and design a system, component or process to meet desired needs
Graduates will gain an ability to use the techniques, skills and modern engineering tools, such as information technology, which is necessary for engineering practice
The undergraduate program in mechanical engineering provides first a strong foundation in all of the basic ingredients of engineering: the natural and physical sciences, mathematics, a comprehensive socio-economic-cultural background, the behavioral sciences, and finally the basic engineering sciences that begin the development of problem-solving skills
The program provides for the detailed study of several advanced topics, including fluid machinery, heat transfer, manufacturing processes, vibration theory, stress analysis, metallurgy, electrical science, and control systems
Students complete a minimum of 128 credits to earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) in Mechanical Engineering
The greatest strength of the undergraduate program is the project-oriented design work that requires the student to organize thinking of the multitude of factors on which every design is based - performance, efficiency, aesthetics, cost, reliability, safety, reparability, etc

Academics:

Student have graduated from secondary school (high school); or
Student have passed the General Education Development exam (GED), and have not attended a college or university since then.
A minimum transferable grade point average of 2.70

Freshman applicants may prove proficiency without additional testing

by completing two full years of general track English courses in a U.S. high school with grades of "C" or better, or
by achieving an acceptable score on the verbal section of the SAT or ACT which will be reviewed in conjunction with other factors
