Economics is the study of our expanding human needs and wants, of our increasingly elaborate economies, of our more complex production processes, and of the impact of increasingly intricate technologies, more refined skills, and greater trade.
In a world of ever increasing constrained resources, the study of Economics must also incorporate philosophic and moral precepts that more properly define the wants and desires of a person, business and community, conditions for material betterment, and value espousals to both better compete and collaborate for the common good.
In sum, an Economics major at Concordia University will prepare you for decision-making in work and life by incorporating the analytical process of modern economic thought with the complex portrayal of human motivation.
Program Outcomes:
- Articulate and apply the concepts and theories of financial markets.
- Identify, illustrate, and apply economic principles.
- Utilize qualitative and quantitative analytical skills to model, measure and predict economic behavior.
- Effectively communicate economic thought and principals to peers, associates and supervisors.
- Identify and illustrate philosophic and moral precepts that define socio-cultural behavior.
- Identify and illustrate value espousals that can and should be incorporated in modern economic theory.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit secondary school transcripts or marksheets and transcripts of any other education attended
- Submit a letter of recommendation directly from principal, school head or college counselor
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional
- Submit English language proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 90 in iBT with combined score of 34 in speaking and writing
- IELTS: minimum 7.0 with no component below 5.5
- PTE: minimum 61
- Duolingo: minimum 120
- CAEL: minimum 70
