Students will gain a deep understanding of how the past informs present-day issues at local and global levels. They encourage students to think critically about their place in the world and to become an active and engaged citizen.
The major and minor programs are designed by a diverse group of professors. They offer a variety of courses in social, cultural, environmental, gender, economic, political, and religious history. With a commitment to diversity, courses cover not just the history of America and Europe, but numerous global countries.
Students will:
- Understand the breadth and diversity of human experience across time and space
- Develop a substantive knowledge of the range and depth in their area(s) of concentration, whether regional and/or topical-thematic
- Think critically and historically about the past
- Understand and appropriately apply historical research methods
- Craft and present persuasive historical arguments in both oral and written forms
- Understand how the practice of history can establish a valuable framework for considering ethical issues in the past and present

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Students must have an official secondary school transcript to get admission.
Students required to maintain at least a 3.0 overall GPA.

Language Requirments:

Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores.
Students are required to submit an SAT or ACT score to be considered for admission.

International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
