The curriculum at PLU balances communication theory with practical application.
All Communication students take a core sequence of courses before breaking off into their respective disciplines (Conflict & Global Peacebuilding, Journalism, Public Relations & Advertising, and Communication Studies).
Application outside of the classroom is integral to students’ development. All of our students complete at least one internship at organizations of their choice. Many students complete more than one.
With knowledge of communication comes responsibility. Students learn ethical standards of their practice and how they interact with local and global communities, culture, and the academic field.
The fields of communication and theatre are rapidly evolving. A solid foundation of theory is crucial to adapt to constantly changing media. So is developing marketable skills and knowledge domains necessary to be an aspiring professional and practitioner. The Department of Communication & Theatre curriculum at PLU balances theory with practical application in all of its offerings.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts from all upper secondary schools you have attended which should be translated in English
- Submit one academic recommendation from a qualified person who is familiar with your academic background
- Submit a personal essay of around 250 words
- Submit English Language Proficiency test requirements
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum score of 79
- IELTS: minimum score of 6.5
- PTE: minimum score of 56
- Duolingo: minimum score of 105
- SAT: minimum 500 in English
- ACT: minimum 21 in English
