We have very active research programs, and students can choose to work on a variety of research topics. The Masters degree provides students with specialized training needed to work in the bioindustry or as preparation to continue their research at the doctoral level. The Doctoral degree provides students with the opportunity to work in-depth on a research problem that may be sponsored by Federal and State funding agencies, industry, or private foundations and prepare for research in academic, industrial, or clinical settings.
Our faculty works closely with clinicians, other engineers, and scientists, so many of our projects reside at the interface between disciplines (i.e. engineering and medicine or engineering and material science). These projects offer great opportunities for creative problem solving, entrepreneurship, and intellectual property generation.
