Master of Education [M.Ed] [Education - English as a Second Language Specialization] From University of North Carolina

The 33?semester hour program is comprised of three components:

• Professional core: explore topics in research, curriculum, and diversity and their implications for middle level education.
• Focus area: deep investigation of issues related to middle level education and may elect to complete add-on certification(s) such as K-12 ESL, K-12 AIG, or K-6 Mathematics (18 hours).
• Capstone experiences: synthesis of issues in middle level education.

Based upon the view of the professional as a decision?maker, the specialization addresses the need for conceptual and procedural knowledge for decision?making and specific alternatives within the candidate's anticipated area of professional practice.
