- Abilene Christian University offers a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Teaching and Learning with two different tracks: an Initial Certification track and a Master Reading Teacher track. Both are cohort based, fostering professional learning communities.
- The fifth-year Initial Certification track, designed for high-performing teacher candidates, allows you to begin graduate-level courses in your final undergraduate semester at ACU. You will participate in a year-long clinical teaching placement in high-needs schools and classrooms, and you will leave equipped to meet the needs of diverse student populations.
- The Master Reading Teacher track is designed for current classroom teachers with at least two years of teaching experience whose teaching assignment includes literacy instruction. This program will prepare teachers for certification as Master Reading Teachers in the state of Texas.

Complete a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
GPA Requirements
- A cumulative undergraduate approximately B average or above in the area of focus or related area and evidence of an overall productive GPA.
English Language Proficiency
- Provide official documentation of English language proficiency by one of the following:
- Submit an official test score from an English language proficiency test accepted by ACU. Official test scores should be sent directly from the testing entity. ACU’s test code is 6001. Accepted English language proficiency tests are: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language System (IELTS), EIKEN, Pearson Test of English (PTE-Academic), and CAE.
- Students who have a conferred bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited US institution
- Students who received a bachelor’s degree or higher in which English was the primary language of instruction
- The accepted score for ACT is 21 or above.
- The average accepted score for SAT is 1200.
