I chose this university because of multiple reasons. Firstly in Sydney, it has a great reputation amongst all the universities. Secondly, it was the only university that offered the exact degree I was looking for. Lastly, my father went to this university so I wanted to follow in his footsteps.
Course Curriculum
The curriculum is very interesting as it covers culture, politics, history, etc. It's very diverse and also allows you to learn a new language during your degree which is great. It has a compulsory semester exchange as well.
Exams
During my last year of high school, I took the HSC (higher school certificate) and got myself an ATAR. With my atar being high enough, I did not need to undertake any more exams.
Internship
You can choose to do an internship for credit points in your degree. You need to get special approval from the dean in order to do the internship. I haven't done an internship yet so I cannot comment on the overall experience.
Fees
Every semester you must pay a student amenities fee on top of your fees for each subject. In Australia, most people defer their fees to the government-run HECS debt scheme.
Examination Structure
Many subjects require you to take exams but many also don't require it. I have opted to lean towards the subjects that don't have a final exam so I cannot comment on this very much. With the one exam that I did take it was very well planned and easy to follow.
Faculty
The faculty of Macquarie University is extremely friendly to all the students. They are also very helpful in everything that the students need. I've had a very good experience with every one of my teachers.
