- AMC's 3 year J2U Advanced Diploma of Nautical Science or J2W Advanced Diploma of Marine Engineering (or equivalent) and significant industrial experience; or
- the following seafaring Certificate of Competency with relevant maritime experience:
- Master (STCW Reg II/2)
- Chief Mate (STCW Reg II/2)
- Engineer Class 1 (STCW Reg III/2)
