Royal Roads University, MA in Environmental Practice
Reviewed on Mar 26, 2021(Enrolled 2016)

The program was interdisciplinary and applied. In addition, it was designed for working professionals and delivered distanced (for the full program or majority of it) so students could work and didn't have to stay in Victoria throughout their study period.

Course Curriculum

9

The whole Royal Roads pedalogy is based in applied education and research so there were a lot of integration with the real world. Instructors all had current or significant experience in non-academic positions.

Exams

Undergraduate degree with a couple of years of working experience or a post-diploma degree with a few years of work experience.

Placement

5

There were some paid research placement opportunities but not many of them. Independent research is encouraged throughout the program and faculty and instructors can assist you with this.

Internship

No, I didn't get the internship.

Events

It's such beautiful situated along the coast with a castle, multiple gardens, and a lot of hiking trails! The campus mainly accommodates students when they are staying there for their residency. There are a number of buildings and facilities - some are open 24 hours! e.g. the classrooms are open 24 hours. There is a cafe/restaurant with good food. The gym is also pretty nice and has bikes you can rent. Almost all buildings have a spectacular view.

Fees

It's been a few years since I graduated but I believe my domestic graduate level tuition rates were about 10'000 - 11'000 per year.

Scholarship

No, I didn't receive any scholarship.

Faculty

9

Most of them if not all are very very approachable. Graduate classes were not more than 20. Professors I would like to note are: David Bernard Glen Brown Leslie King Chris Ling

Hostel

The dormitories are very well maintained. They are divided to two different buildings. Nixon is more expensive but provides a larger room with your own private bathroom and kitchen bar. The other dormitory is more affordable and also has private rooms but has shared kitchen and bathroom facilities on every floor. Each dormitory has a a security desk.
