Alisha Allgood Review at Centennial College, Toronto | Collegedunia

Student's Review

AA
3.5 /10

I chose this particular college because it had the program I wanted to do. The program I chose wasn't that long which I liked. It was also one of the cheaper options out of all the other colleges I applied too.

Course Curriculum :

The course curriculum wasn't very good or up to date. Some of the courses were unnecessary. For example Global Citizenship was a very boring class that everyone was required to take not to mention is was really hard.

Exams :

I got to take a TICO exam which was covered in the tuition costs. If we passed the exam it allows you to official become a travel consultant.

Placement :

It took a while for me to find an internship placement. I applied to a few and even got to do an interview but I was unsuccessful. My teacher find one close to my home in Osgaea which worked out to save money for transportation costs.

Internship :

Yes it does. The internship I had was more administrative which I didn't like. I mostly filed papers in the back room or shredded paper. When I was not given any work I would work on my assignments since I had my own computer in the office.

Events :

They had open house events three times a year for students wishing to attend the college. This allowed students to better understand the college and see if they were truly interested in attending it.

Fees :

The fees structure included various things such as course books, per semester tuition, gym membership, entrance test, and other tests related to travel and tourism.

Scholarship :

I applied to a few scholarships but never received one. I didn't apply for financial aid because I was able to pay for my schooling all on my own. For the first semester I received a $500 for books.

Examination Structure :

The exams consisted of most multiple choice and occasionally short answers and a long essay question. The short answers and essay questions were mainly for my global citizenship class. The courses for my main program were all multiple choice.

Faculty :

Most of my teachers were not very good teachers. For example one of them would periodically leave the classroom to go on various breaks such as food or smoke breaks. Another one didn't teach very well and was also an unnecessarily hard marked.

Hostel :

I stayed at my stepdads house in Pickering during the week. On Friday's I would go back home to Oshawa to work on the weekends and then return to Pickering to stay at my step dads. If costs a lot of money going to Oocjering, Scarborough and then back to Oshawa.
