Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary Review

DD
7.2 /10

Ranked among the top 10 university in Canada, great infrastructure for pursuing research, well-planned academic program, multicultural environment, well-connected alumni network, and great career preparation committee

Course Curriculum :

The curriculum is well-balanced and structured to incorporate both theory and practical application. Catered to introduce new techniques and research followed in the industry. Evaluation for courses included research and numerical projects. Various courses to choose from depending on your field of choice.

Exams :

My scores: IELTS 7.5 (2019); SAT 1 1560/1600 (2013); SAT 2 2350/2400 (2013)

Placement :

The University of Calgary is one of the best universities in the state of Alberta attracting well-reputed companies and providing a platform to network with industry professionals from those companies during the campus career fair.

Internship :

University does provide internship and co-op programs for students. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to avail these opportunities due to covid.

Fees :

Around 15,000 CAD per year

Scholarship :

No Scholarship

Faculty :

Faculty is easily approachable with an average student-to-faculty ratio of 1:20. Faculty are usually provided with teaching assistants to interact and help students further. Professors were usually available via zoom on request to assist students with course material and evaluation keys.

Campus Life :

University Campus is well designed and maintained on a regular basis, there are 7 seven libraries present in the university to hold books and research material for various specializations. The library has got one of the best online portals to rent books to be delivered to your doorstep during covid. University has great sports facilities and a gym for student use. Has got a huge stadium under its management as well.

Hostel :

Accommodation is very feasible here in Calgary, on average 900 CAD is enough to cover your daily needs and expense per month. Did not avail the university's accommodation and found my own which can easily be found via online groups on social media sites.
