I first found out about nipissing through a school fair at my school. It was a really awesome course and the gentleman giving the presentation was fantastic. After farther research I finically got to go see the school and I felt super at home right away. The program was the best I had seen and the Nipissing community was everything I imagined for my university career! Alsng with feeling so at home the class sizes and student services/activities available here were amazing and just want I wanted!
Course Curriculum
So far it's been really great. All of my courses are either helping me pursue my career in policing or helping with General life skills. The course curriculum is expected to get better and I'm excited to have things even more specific towards policing as a career!
Exams
The main reason was the fact that within my four years I would get a BA and also a college diploma. Ask I would not have to take any online classes if I chose not too, which was a big thing for my specific program! Along with that my high school average, 82.5% made me eligible for a $1500 scholarship, which was the highest out of all the school I saw/applied for.
Placement
The placements I've heard about are fantastic. Like mentioned before the nursing program gets clinical in their first year, one of if not the only school to do so. Along with that so many other programs, for example mine or social work, get to do placements or get jobs within the field in 3rd year. All with the schools help and support.
Internship
Jobs are definitely available on campus. It's through the website or by just talking to our advising teams. For internships, from my knowledge it is through classes you can get an internship (ex: working with the medics on campus). Also for the nursing program all students to their placements within the first year at an actual hospital which is fantastic.
Events
Frosh week: the first week of being at school is for all first-years to get to know each other and have some fun Sports: there's always some sort of sports game going on and it's always advertised around campus Clubs: there's a countless amount of clubs that all have their own celebrations
Fees
Carl Sanders Entrance Scholarship: with my 82% high school average I was eligible for a $1500 scholarship that stays every year if I achieve an 80% average once again. The $1500 is split in half and given within each semester. Tuition this year for me was $5781 which was split in half and paid within both semesters.
Scholarship
My scholarship is listed above and I did not have to apply as it was automatically sent to me.
Examination Structure
The exam schedule is out on our student website and we just follow it accordingly. Being set up with Student Accessibility Services I never have more than 1 exam a day and get to write in a noise reduced room as well.
Faculty
Everyone is great. From the profs to the student service workers. Everyone is very approachable and always helpful. I haven't felt alone in my experiences here yet.
Hostel
I currently live on campus on residences. I don't have a meal plan as we have full kitchens. The kitchen is great and I learned how to cook very quickly. I've had amazing friends so far and I love being in residence. The support is great there and so are the people. Along with that there?s always events going on to keep us busy on residences. I haven't run into many challenges other than learning to live on my own and with roommates, but so far so good!
