Kongu Engineering College (KEC) was founded by Kongu Vellalar Institute of Technology Trust (KVITT) in the year 1984. The college is affiliated to Anna University Chennai. A few of my friends recently graduated from Kongu Engineering College (KEC). Here is what they have to say about the institute.
Advantages:
- Kongu Engineering College (KEC) is known to be one of the best self-supporting colleges in Tamil Nadu and India.
- Excellent environment for Study, KEC has been awarded for Green Campus by AICTE.
- Experienced and Interactive Faculties
- Students are encouraged to pursue their own interests.
- There are many co-curricular-oriented activities, in which you can participate.
- Choice-based credit system - You can choose your subjects across any branch of Engineering.
- The infrastructure of the institute is quite good. There are well-equipped labs, a huge auditorium.
- Good Placement Opportunities. In the 2020 placement drive, a total of 220 recruiting companies visited the campus and the median CTC offered was around 3 LPA.
- You will receive good support for sports and extracurricular activities.
Disadvantages:
- Kongu Engineering College (KEC) is located in a Rural area.
- It is a Self-supporting college.
- Moderate Hostel Facility.
- During your first year, you will feel like you are still in your school.
- Girls have to assemble before 6 o'clock and they are not allowed to go out of hostels during weekends.

How is the food at Kongu Engineering College mess and cafeteria?
One of my friends graduated from Kongu Engineering College and according to him, the hostel food is good. Comparatively, that is the best food you can get among colleges.
Most people like non-veg food at the cafeteria. According to my friend, the cafeteria food is not worth the money. You can find outside vendors for food. That is better. There are some really good shops for chit-chats.
