MCh in General Surgery Admission Process
Admission Process for MCh in General Surgery is purely based on entrance exams like other medical courses in India. MCh is a super speciality course which is pursued after completion of basic MBBS and a PG specialization degree. Hence the aspirants must appear for entrance exams like NEET SS which is conducted specially for super speciality courses. The NEET-SS entrance test is performed in a single shift in computer-based mode by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).
Candidates would be allocated seats based on the score obtained by them and a merit list of NEET-SS candidates are prepared based on the marks scored and the seats are allotted based on the merit list.
MCh General Surgery: Eligibility
Candidates must meet the eligibility requirements for the Master of Chirurgiae required to get admission via NEET-SS to MCh courses. These are listed in detail below:
- Degree - Applicants must be in pursuit of an MS degree or an interim pass certificate (or equivalent degree) within the timeframe defined. By the due date, they may also be likely to possess the same one.
- Registration - Candidates are also expected to register with the Medical Council of India (MCI)/State Medical Council (SMC). Medical graduates will also be expected to send proof of this document to the test center on the day of the evaluation.
- The Result - Candidates must obtain their qualifying examination results before the cut-off date, or else their candidacy will be canceled.
Those candidates who fall under the Foreign Nationals group are not allowed to have MCI registration. MCI will have temporary registration for these candidates, which will be for the duration of the MCh degree. This temporary registration will be issued after the prescribed registration fee has been paid.
The temporary registration obtained by foreign nationals shall be restricted and valid only in respect of the medical college or institution to which they are admitted. The applicants are also expected to be licensed in their own country with the relevant authority where the MS degree is obtained.
MCh General Surgery: Entrance Exam
Admission to MCh courses is done through the entrance exam NEET SS (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) which is conducted specially for the Super Speciality Courses.
